Why an IPO?
In the effort to develop the country’s capital markets policy, initiatives have been geared towards supporting more IPO activity. The capital markets policy aims to share ownership in state-owned entities with citizens, thereby:
- Promoting the behaviour of, and creating opportunities for, savings by citizens;
- Promoting the allocation of the population’s savings into the T&T economy; and
- Providing a way to partake in the energy resource wealth generation of the country.
The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) provided citizens with an opportunity to participate in an equity investment in the T&T energy sector.
Upon completion of the IPO, Trinidad and Tobago NGL Limited was listed on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange (TTSE). NGC continues to own a significant shareholding in Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL).
